Following the Golden Arrow is a documentary that follows the journey of two friends as they retrace one of their grandfather’s paths through Europe during World War II. Ride along as they experience the US 8th Infantry Division’s historic march from Normandy to Northern Germany.

Following the Golden Arrow premiered theatrically on June 6, 2014. We are currently touring the film at various festivals and pursuing distribution.

Originally from Indiana, Benjamin Atkinson has always been interested in World War II and filmmaking. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with Honors from Indiana University in 2007 and a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship and Marketing from Indiana University in 2011. He currently works as an Brand Manager/Web Developer/Consultant in Denver. His grandfather served as the highly decorated Captain of the 56th Field Artillery C Battery, within the 8th Infantry Division of the US Army. Ben grew up listening to his grandfather’s many stories, even encouraging him to author a self-published autobiography about his time in the military in order to preserve his unique history. This project is an extension of that book, and will encompass a wide range of stories both personal and otherwise.


Brandon SchiffliBrandon Schiffli, Director/Producer

Brandon Schiffli grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. For two years he attended the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne where he studied art and design and was honored with an outstanding showcase award. With his lifelong passion for art, Brandon was also passionate with filmmaking and storytelling and decided to pursue a concentration in screenwriting at Columbia College Chicago in 2005.
Brandon enjoys expressing his creativity with humor and spends his time writing thought-provoking comedy. He works closely with his brother Collin Schiffli, a film director. After graduating from Columbia College in 2008, Brandon spent a year working for Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films. Three of Brandon’s short films have been produced at Columbia: Quarter ’til Two, Head Case and Ghostaphobia, two of which were directed by Collin.



John Houston, Composer

John Houston is a composer for visual media (film, television, video games, web series, etc.)  Originally from the Chicago area, he relocated to Los Angeles in 2011 after completing his MFA Music Composition for the Screen degree at Columbia College Chicago.  In addition to composing, John is an active classical pianist (BM ’07, MM ’09, Indiana University), and has played electric keyboard in various bands.
